E.b. Sledge's account of crossing the airstrip at Peleliu is inspiring here are two quote's.
"For me the attackresembled World War1movies I had seen of sucidal Allied infantry attacks through shell fire on the Western Front. I clenched my teeth, squeezed my carbine stock, and recited over and over to myself, "The Lord is my shepherd; Ishall not want. Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for though art with me; Thy rod and staff comfort me..."
" Through the hazeI saw marines stumble and pitch forward as they got hit. I looked neither right nor left but just straight to my front. The farther we went, the worse it got. The noise and concussion pressed in on my ears like a vise. I gritted my teeth and braced myself in anticipation of the shock of being struck down at any moment. It seemed impossible that any of us could make it across. We passed several craters that offered shelter, but Iremembered the order to keep moving. Because of the superb discipline and the excellent espirit of the Marines, it never occured to us that the attack might fail."

The head sculpt is DID on a Dragon body

天寶山伏擊戰 1943年3月23日

這故事發生在1943年3月23日湖北省宜昌縣天寶山伏擊戰, 所屬部隊應該是國民革命軍第七十五軍第六師第十六團.
宜昌週邊天寶山伏擊戰
1943年，半壁淪陷的宜昌縣（今夷陵區）的抗日戰爭，也同全國形勢一樣，
處於膠著相持階段，駐紮在漢宜公路沿線的侵華日軍十三師團，無力西進，
便在各個制高點上築起半永久性工事，等待戰機。
　　3月23日（農曆二月十八日）下午4時，國軍的炮兵在檀木崗安放大炮，
當時有兩個“過路人”在那�堿搕F一會兒就走了。附近群眾估計當天或第
二天要打仗，都準備進山躲避，可是到了傍晚，安放的幾門大炮不見了，
似乎一切都很平靜，人們估計沒事了。可就在這天深夜（實為24日淩晨），
駐當陽雙蓮寺的日軍可能得到偵探密報，卻悄悄向國軍陣地撲來，欲對天
寶山、雷家畈實施偷襲，可日軍哪里知曉，國軍早已布下了天羅地網，只
等他們來送死。軍長柳際明(繼張珙之後任軍長)得到情報後，命令第六師
師長沈澄年，派一個團的兵力，選擇有利地形，進行伏擊，務必將來犯之
敵，悉數包圍而殲滅之。師長沈澄年命令我十六團出擊，務期一舉殲滅該
敵。
第十六團團長朱元琮得到師部命令後，即作如下的部署：命令第一營
營長魏晉率領全營，附師部配屬的炮兵一連，埋伏在天寶山山口左翼高地；
命令�! 臚! T營營長張雅山率領該營，附團追擊炮連，埋伏在天寶山西邊山口
右翼高地。兩個營俟敵人進入我伏擊圈後，即全力圍殲來犯之敵。命令第
二營胡營長率領全營擔任正面出擊。並選派精幹連為先頭部隊。在與敵接
觸時，相機誘敵深入。胡營長即派第五連連長張培根為先頭連，沿公路向
東搜索前進。
　　大約淩晨2時，日軍一個步騎混編大隊，從當陽的幹溪，經棗林崗，
過界嶺，然後進入院子河、楊泗沖，日軍一路上偃旗息鼓，悄悄進發。當
他們進入國軍第一道埋伏圈沙包沖後，國軍便在沙包沖一線的各個制高點
以猛烈火力轟向敵群，一下切斷了他們的退路，迫敵前竄。日軍剛竄至官
莊坡下，國軍四面制高點上的輕重機槍、迫擊炮齊向日軍密集地猛烈掃射、
轟炸，頓時槽溝中躺下100多具侵略者的屍體。待日軍指揮官清醒後，才
吼叫著指揮部下搶佔制高點。
（以下引用一營二連某排長的回憶）高地關莊包未能拿下。此處地勢
險要，扼宜昌通道，日軍據險頑抗，一營三連輪番攻擊，仍未能攻下。戰
鬥慘烈，我連排長過慶銘陣亡，連長章培根亦負輕傷。因鄂西地區神農架
附近崇山峻嶺，各種重武器及機械化裝備無法施展，唯有�! 洏! 峔B兵輕武器，
稍一接觸，即進行白刃戰。三連攻擊受挫後，仍集結於山腳待命。當時團
長朱元琮親自到營指揮所，令營長徐景江速即重組突擊隊，務必於中午前
攻克關莊包，如若拖至黃昏後，敵人必托維竄回宜昌城，殲敵之機功虧一
簣。
營長當即命二連我排火速增援，歸三連指揮，重組突擊隊。我受命
後，即率全排奔向三連陣地，向張連長報到。張連長向我簡要說明該連曾
兩次沖上山頂，敵憑藉臨時半掩體工事，以逸代勞，待我接近時，一躍而
出短兵相接，進行肉搏，終因我戰士體力不支，傷亡慘重而失利。據此情
況我當即向連長建議，改變前兩次攻擊隊形，將該連尚餘六挺輕機槍及我
排三挺輕機槍集中編隊，由我率領機槍手一律用皮帶把機槍一律用皮帶把
機槍斜掛胸前，至山頂發起衝鋒時，機槍成一列，以猛烈火力消滅敵人。
步槍兵兩側接應，不與敵人肉搏，用機槍當衝鋒槍，出敵以外或能奏效。
連長同意，隨即編隊，稍事檢查，並向各班長及機槍手說明重組突擊隊的
意圖，弟兄們都精神振奮。連長在我臨前進時，沉痛而嚴肅地對我們說：
“這是最後一次攻擊，成功成仁，在此一舉，不完成任�! ��! M不能撤下。”
我當即率隊爬山，連長率對所餘步槍兵攻擊隊形略作整頓，把機槍手集於
我左右兩邊，布成一列後，即向連長發出信號。頃刻，連吹響衝鋒號，我
即率隊發起喊殺聲，向山頂猛衝。日軍仍與前兩次一樣，等我隊接近時，
全部躍出欲與我進行肉搏。此時我全部機槍開火猛烈掃射，九條火龍將敵
吞噬於火海之中，除少數敵人連滾待爬逃竄下山外，盡皆陳屍山頭，其中
擊斃敵中尉一名。我隊佔領山頭後，連長也隨即趕到。正當我們清理戰場
時，眼前忽然一陣光亮，我即臥地一滾，轟隆幾聲，敵小鋼炮彈爆炸，彈
片四飛。因敵人眼見山頭為我所占，以無退路，故向山頭瘋狂開炮，此時
全團也發起總攻擊，殲滅包圍之敵，槍炮聲，喊殺聲連成一片，山搖地動，
震撼全穀。敵彈爆炸後，我發覺右臂被彈片擊傷，血流不止。我急將傷口
包紮後，發現連長不見，清點人員已傷亡十餘人。忽然見連長的傳令兵負
著半截屍體走來，哭訴說連長陣亡。
此次戰役共殲滅日寇200多人，打傷20多人，打死戰馬30多匹，繳獲不少
武器彈藥。戰鬥打響之後，日寇逃竄約200多人.

這次題材所使用的ZB-37 中型機槍並沒有附上彈藥箱, 據資料顯示SS慣以制式彈藥箱為主, 國軍就查無資料了!! 所以只能自行想像.
以0.2mm 巴沙木做成彈藥箱及蓋子, 兩側的固定扣以銅片及迴紋針凹成自己想像的形狀, 再用快乾膠黏上即可.
直接上色後以砂紙磨邊緣的地方, 讓它感覺經過磨損的質感.

這是幾年前玩國軍題材時自行繪製及印製的胸章及臂章, 分別是所屬單位及兵籍牌.
這幾個徽章就可以玩上一陣子了! 先是以photoshop 繪製出再以印表機印在布上,
剪下貼上就行了.

這是chung814 的自製草笠,剛好這回我的國軍題材可以用上,借助他的創作讓我作品加分,翻了些許樹脂草笠.
國軍在抗戰時戴草笠也是種特色,尤其草笠上頭寫字及畫上國徽更加特殊.很好玩!!
其實我的書法也不賴!是嗎!!

這次趕著參賽, 這尊的頭雕就直接塑完烤過後就直接上色.
我不會玩帥哥, 但是要有軍人的fu, 哈~ 看看就好!

這草鞋是這次主題裡自製的一部份, 蠻好玩的!

這兩個部份也是這次的題材內容之一, 手部自製能握緊機槍, 一般市售的手都不是我要的!
裸腳是為了穿著草鞋用的, 要是一般的腳會是很難看的.

Cat. 3 - Army search dog Treo and RAVC Sergeant Dave Heyhoe

Here is my entry,It Depicts My Friend Dave Heyhoe (RAVC) and his AES Dog Treo who in February this year recieved The PDSA Dickens Medal for Gallantry,Its the Animal Equivalent of the Victoria Cross.The medal is the highest award any animal can receive in recognition of conspicuous gallantry or devotion to duty while serving in military conflict.
Treo, an eight-year-old black Labrador and Sergeant Dave Heyhoe have worked together for five years.

According to the Army, Treo's actions saved other soldiers and innocent civilians from death and serious injury.
Military working dog Treo was deployed to Helmand province, Afghanistan, in March 2008. His job was to search for weapons and munitions concealed by the Taliban.

On 15 August 2008, while working as a forward detection dog in Sangin, he located an improvised explosive device (IED). The 'daisy chain' IED (two or more explosives wired together) had been carefully modified and concealed by the Taliban at the side of a path in order to maximise casualties among the numerous soldiers about to pass.

A month later, in September 2008, Treo's actions saved another platoon from guaranteed casualties. This was also due to Treo locating a 'daisy chain' IED.

Inspired by IWM photo collections IWM NA675 and nexts, IWM E21338 and nexts, IWM E20084 and some others.
After read Special Forces in the Desert War 1940-1943 by The National Archives, The Wartime Jeep in British Servie and surf the web searching and reading info about LRDG and SAS operations, I wish use last jeep released by DML to convert in one of this.
Jeep: SAS 4x4 Desert raider weathered
Figures: driver, CH Fritz Moosmuller HS, leather jerkin, Army sweater, gloves, gutrah and ogal, BD trousers and chapplies
gunner, DML Eddie Mac HS, BD uniform, hebron coat purchased locally, goggles, ammunition boots and hat.
This jeep was loaded with all needed for a some days patrol, 20 jerrycans for fuel and water (mix of allied and german), a british flimsie, a twin Vickers, a single Vickers, bags with equipment and ready to bring if they need abandon the vehicle, two sand mats for when vehicle was stuck, land mines, Mills bombs, maps and a compass.Added more wheels.
I'm in process to add at this vehicle a Bagnold sun compass, but not finished at time.
