Farewelling the brave Fellowship of the Ring at the borders of her realm, the Lady Galadriel presents Frodo Baggins with a delicate glass phial. Knowing the peril that awaits Frodo on his journey, Galadriel assures him that her gift will be a light in dark places, when all others go out. Bound with silver and small enough to fit within the palm of one’s hand, the phial contains within it the water of Galadriel’s fountain, in which is caught the light of Eärendil, the Elves’ most beloved star.

Many miles beyond the safety of Lothlórien the light of Galadriel’s gift would shine between the Hobbits and certain death as they brave the horrors of the Stairs of Cirith Ungol. Betrayed by the creature Gollum, Frodo and Sam face the insatiable appetite of Shelob, the great spider haunting the pass. Only the power of the star-glass can prevent all hope being swallowed in the grim darkness of her lair.

Tasked by his master, the Mystic urSu, Jen sets out to find Aughra before the three suns of Thra converge. She reveals to him the origin of the Skeksis, brought when the Crystal was broken, entrusting him with taking the broken shard and restoring the Dark Crystal to its former state.

Aughra has many crystals, and only one is the true shard, but remembering the teachings of the Mystics, Jen plays a single note upon his firca flute; the true shard vibrating and glowing.

Before he can get more answers, Jen is forced to flee, as they are besieged by the fearsome Garthim...

Bag End is a home of comfort. It is a place to begin a story, and a place to return to once the journey has ended. It is warm, safe, and full of surprises. Now the key to all of that is yours.

During the production of The Lord of the Rings, Wētā Workshop was tasked with helping to build up the very foundations of how Middle-earth was to appear on screen. From the largest of towers to the smallest of Hobbit holes, countless sketches were made detailing every aspect, and although not every concept saw its way onto the big screen, each piece played an important role in exploring the world it belonged to.

For the very first time, Wētā Workshop is proud to have the opportunity to bring a piece of Middle-earth to life, that until now only existed on paper: The Key to Bag End.
