Sideshow presents the Muse of Flesh: Atelier Cryptus, one of three all-new additions to our original Court of the Dead collection. Atelier Cryptus is the debut line of ball-jointed dolls offered by S Doll!

From deep within the Realm of True Spirit, the Muse of Flesh, called Vleesena, and her sisters, the Muse of Bone and the Muse of Spirit, emerged to provide hope and guidance to a fledgling Death, long before he built the Underworld and its capital city of Illverness.

Unencumbered by duty, this playful creature creates the world she most desires. In constant search of extravagance, adventure, and her next metamorphosis, the Muse of Flesh resists nothing, embraces everything.

The Muse of Flesh stands at 16" from the base of her intricately adorned high heels to the top of her stupendous crimson wig. Her ornate boots lace up the back of her calves while her peep-toe heels feature the Flesh Faction symbol.

"Her garments are quite beautiful and complex," said Esther Skandunas, Costume Fabrication Artist. "The idea was to bring beauty to chaos. All of her garments, fabric choices and details represent the human anatomy from the outer flesh to muscle and blood. [But] we wanted to keep the details that represent blood and gore very beautiful so that you don’t quite notice those elements right away."

"I created the blood by using crimson beads located at her neck, wrists, and abdomen so that at first glance she looks like she is wearing beautiful jewelry and accessories, but upon closer examination you begin to realize that those beads are meant to represent blood dripping from her flesh," Esther explained.

Reminiscent of an era since passed, Vleesena's elaborate ensemble evokes the true essence of Flesh: chaos, creativity, curiosity. From her fanciful face-up to her removable cape and long, spidery fingers - embellished with her archetypal color of scarlett - the Muse of Flesh is as intoxicating as she is commanding.

A highly pose-able, epic-fantasy character, this resin ball-jointed doll features articulation at her ankles, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, waist, shoulders, and neck. A back-head plate, dual-jointed neck, custom eye plug-ins, and magnetic hand attachments make for an extremely customizable figure.

From deep within the Realm of True Spirit, the Muse of Bone - known as Philomena - and her sisters, the Muse of Flesh and the Muse of Spirit, emerged to provide hope and guidance to a fledgling Death, long before he built the Underworld and its capitol city of Illverness.

A righteous influencer at heart, the Muse of Bone expresses a cool sense of power and purpose. She is the administrator of her sisterhood and the adjudicator of their actions (whether her sisters wish to abide by this or not!). From her intricately sculpted head, featuring sharp cheekbones and high brows, to her knee-high boots adorned with minute skulls and the fierce points of her headdress, Philomena's appearance of strength is matched only by her beauty.

"It was very important that her garments be very rigid and architectural, but still exude feminine elegance and strength," said Esther Skandunas, Costume Fabrication Artist. "We chose fabrics that maintain their shape well to compliment her bone structure, ribs, and spine."

The Muse of Bone stands 16" tall; a decorative rib-cage enhances her waist, leading into the acute pleats of her skirt, while an ornamental spinal column augments her back. Evoking an otherworldly sense of ancient erudition, Philomena's eyes glow with an ethereal prudence.

From deep within the Realm of True Spirit, the Muse of Spirit - Oriana - and her sisters, the Muse of Bone and the Muse of Flesh, emerged to provide hope and guidance to a fledgling Death, long before he established the Underworld and its capitol city of Illverness.

An inherently whimsical and wild being, the Muse of Spirit is always meditating, pondering her place in the cosmos and the impact of her sisterhood upon the world around her. Oriana believes in the connection of all things; for her, existence itself is a power so enchanting it could wake the dead (and in the Underworld, it often does!).

"We wanted to keep her light and airy to give her a sense of weightlessness," says Esther Skandunas, Costume Fabrication Artist. "She is not weighed down by the flesh of her body, or the structure of her bones as the other Muses are. Her color pallet is very pale, as if she is drained of color. Her fabrics are mostly sheer and almost weightless. The pannier structure beneath the skirt of the dress allows extra play with the skirts of her dress. You can drape them back over the cage to reveal more of the cage of the pannier structure, which also reveals her dainty undergarments."

With pearl-like eyes and a slightly open mouth, The Muse of Spirit appears offbeat and interested in the beyond. The only Muse lacking shoes, her feet are instead adorned with wisps of etherea, wrapping around her toes and up her ankles. Uniquely creepy, this intricate creature is the Spirit Faction incarnate: sagacious, eccentric, enlightened.
