The First Sortie

The body is a Dragon Neo3 which has not been modified.

The head is Dragons # 387 Sepp Kiefer. It was stripped and repainted with oils; the eyes were done in acrylics with pastel shading as per my norm. The beard and mustache was done with real human hair, cut into pieces from ¼ to ¾ inch – dipped into a puddle of Elmer’s white glue applied to the sculpt 1 hair at a time. I then trimmed the hairs to shape. This method is quite time consuming and will leave you cross eyed after a while… The scraggly look is what I was after but if you wanted a fuller look this method could produce it with a more thorough application.

The right hand is from DID mounted on Dragon post, the left is from Dragon. Both were repainted and weathered.

The uniform is from 21st Century as is the scarf. The leathers are from Battlegear Toys. They are really nice, but they are a tad bit brittle – I don’t think they were made with a whole lot of dynamic posing in mind. I had a couple of tears that I managed to hide with weathering.

The crusher cap is from One Sixth Unique and is a piece of art! You know it’s a nice piece when you hesitate to weather it!!!

The boots are from 21st Century. I repainted and weathered them and the figure with acrylics and pastels.

The Base is meant to be a representation and is not to scale or part accurate. That being said it really is not that far off scale, and the rest I think is a fairly close representation to the actual 20mm AA platform on a German type VIIc submarine.

The water….
It looks great in the pictures but was a royal pain in the rear end to do. There was a lot more effects I wanted to give the figure and base that I could not make look good in scale, so I left them off.
