Officer of the "Wachregiment- Freidrich Engels" GDR

The figure represents an officer of the NVA guards regiment 'Friedrich Engels'.
The guard regiment was placed with Order No. 99/62 of the Minister of National Defence of the GDR.
It was housed in the "Friedrich Emgels"-barracks at the Friedrich-at Kupfergraben1 in Berlin.
The main tasks were the provision of ceremonial honor guard at the memorial "Neue Wache" Unter den Linden and the "großer Wachaufzug".

The große Wachaufzug was held every Wednesday and Saturday at 14.30 clock in front of the memorial.
To a guard of honor marched with the staff of the music corps of the Friedrich Engels Barracks on the streets - "am Kupfergraben", - Friedrichstrasse - Unter den Linden to the memorial.
There, a guard and was then carried out a march past in "Exerzierschritt2. Then it went back to the barracks.
