2nd American revolution: Sgt. Walker Mason

Walker had been a scout with the Army Rangers in Afghanistan back in the day and had recently been a SWAT leader with the Dallas Police Dept. Then came the suspension of the Constitution and the split in the Govt. between the Fellowship leaders and the Autocrats. Those who didn't see eye to eye with either one were forced to form the Constitutional congress. This had been the way Walker went, along with a large majority of recent vets and a major contingent of active duty military and civilian employees. They had managed to take control of the military bases in Texas, most of Oklahoma and several key installations in other southern and western states.
Uniforms and equipment had always been a catch as catch can affair and most of the militia units had adopted their own code of dress.
This had worked to their advantage has it made identifying the militia more difficult , especially in small unit numbers where they could melt in with the local population.
Now things had somewhat settled from the 1st year of fighting and lines had pretty much been established.
Most of the heavy fighting was back east as the forces of the new American republic fought the Fanatics of the Fellowship for control of the east coast and Appalachians.
Some action had been seen along the Mississippi and in Ohio. But largely the southern and western sections had only had skirmishes for control of Bases and basic facilities in the major cities. These were fought by units of the fellowship against the constitutional forces who now controlled a good portion of the rural areas as well some smaller towns.

Walker is a Sargent 1st class with the 1st Regimental Combat team of the Texas 3rd Army group. He's a scout with Major McKinney's 1st Battalion 4th Cavalry Regiment. The 1st of the 4th Cav. or "Quarter Horse" battalion as they are called use horses for most of their recon as it's more fuel efficient and allows for greater autonomy from the supply trains. Not to mention almost unlimited access to anywhere they need to go with little need to worry about motors giving away their positions.
Besides with Houston in enemy hands and the fellowship patrolling the gulf with a sizable naval force fuel is at a premium and the Army needs to save it wherever they can.

Most of Texas was taken by the Connie's as the Constitutional forces are called. But Dallas and Houston still remain in the hands of the Fellowship who have a major following is both of the towns. Houston is being supplied from the gulf and Dallas gets it;s replenishment by air and armored convoy out of Louisiana which is almost totally under fellowship control.
