NAJAF, IRAQ: Murderous zealots of Iraqi radical Shiite Muslim cleric Moqtada Sadr's Iranian backed Mehdi Army militia chat in the old city of Najaf 06 August 2004 as intense clashes raged in the holy city between US forces and militiamen in the worst fighting since a June truce. More than 50 people were killed and over 170 wounded as the unrest fanned out across Shiite central and southern Iraq, with insurgents targeting British-led troops in Basra and Amara and the Italians in Nasiriyah.
