石油公司的匿名發言人表示：「我們在巴士拉的辨事處和倉庫，遭梅迪軍放火。」

「英軍現在已包圍了那裡的辦事處。」

周四較早時，一名薩德爾的助理恫言要攻擊南部石油設施，以報復聖城納傑夫的戰鬥。

自稱是梅迪軍司令的法圖西在巴士拉對法新社說：「如果納傑夫的攻擊繼續發生，我們不會讓聯軍的基地完好無缺，我們將會攻擊油井。」
